Set up call forwarding in Nextiva so the calls your front desk misses go to your Recepta Desk number. Nextiva has separate settings for unanswered, busy, and unreachable calls.

How do I send the calls I miss to Recepta Desk in Nextiva?

Nextiva has separate settings for forwarding when a call is unanswered, busy, or unreachable, and each takes an outside number. Set them in the admin dashboard.

  1. 1In the Nextiva Voice Admin Dashboard, hover Users and click Manage Users.
  2. 2Open the user with the pencil icon, then open Forwarding.
  3. 3Turn on Call Forward When Unanswered, enter your Recepta Desk number, and set the number of rings before it forwards.
  4. 4Turn on Call Forward When Busy and enter the same number.
  5. 5Save, place a test call, let it ring out, and confirm you get a text back.

Good to know

  • Enter the forwarding number with no spaces or dashes. A formatting slip is the top reason forwarding fails on Nextiva.
  • Call Forward When Busy only fires when Call Waiting is off and you are on a call. Turn Call Waiting off if you want busy calls to forward.
  • Consider turning on Call Forward When Unreachable too, so calls still route out if the phone loses its connection.
  • Place a test call from an outside phone and confirm Recepta Desk texts that phone, not your clinic line. Nextiva does not document the caller ID on forwarded calls, so check it before you rely on it. If the number does not come through, contact Nextiva support.
